Rally Background
This year (2009) sees the Rochdale and District Amateur
Radio Society Traditional Radio Rally revert back to it's later autumn date
on November 14th. Last year we moved it earlier in the year in an attempt
to miss the usual snow, ice or rain! Unfortunately Global Warming hasn't
reached Rochdale as yet, with the date not seeming to make any appreciable
difference, so we decided to go back to our normal time of year for our 14th
Annual Rally!!
The RADARS Rally is and always has been a traditional affair in that we encourage vendors to bring along all their old gear, valves and 'boat anchors' especially, and hope that established and budding constructors will be able to find those all elusive bits and pieces that you can't get anymore from the High Street store.. The mix of vendors includes professional traders and a large contingent of flea market stalls. We always plan to have a broad range of traders so you can go home with a brand new top of the range rig or a just pocket full of resistors. We have traders who travel from all over the country to regularly share in the Rochdale experience and who enjoy the friendly ambience of our Lancashire hospitality. Every year we run the rally to cover club costs and to enable us to make a donation to the Floyd Neuro-Rehabilitation Unit at Rochdale Infirmary where some of our present club members have had excellent care following strokes. Our chance to show our appreciation of all the hard work done there. Pitches are available from just £5 each this year. As is usual, we want our rally to build on our warm and friendly reputation, enable visitors to meet up and chat over a cup of tea and bacon butty, but also go home with a bargain! Last year we were actually giving stuff away at the end of the day!! Contact Dave G0PUD on 07710243107 or email dave.shaw@zen.co.uk to book a table or for further details. Also look up the RADARS website at http://www.radars.me.uk/ for more information about RADARS and for directions to the venue. Doors open at 10.15am for disabled and 10.30am for everyone else. Admission £2.50 with concessions for under 12's and seniors. Previous Rally Pictures
