Note 2006:  Final scores are again lower than we claimed - probably due to our poor log keeping - MUST do better next time!

Photos taken during VHF NFD 2006

The location was a few miles to the north of Rochdale, some 1540ft asl..  Usually wet and windy we managed this time some quite nice weather - at least to start with (Friday Night and Saturday)

But Sunday was horrendous.

Just as we were packing up and dismantling the station the worst storm to hit this area started. More than 2" of rain per hour, violent lightning strikes surround us and the 4m beam got struck.  The site was abandoned at about 6pm leaving one of the caravans and the 4m antenna system.

Both were collected the next day - but access to the site was a problem with very deep ruts on the access road.
